Golden boy
The Rays will have a pregame ceremony for the third straight game today with 1B Carlos Pe?a receiving his 2008 AL Rawlings Gold Glove. He is the first Ray to win a Gold Glove.
Remembering Robinson, Part I
The Rays will join other major-league teams in wearing No. 42, a tribute to former Brooklyn Dodger great Jackie Robinson, who broke Baseball's color barrier 62 years ago today.
Remembering Robinson, Part II
Rays senior adviser Don Zimmer, a former teammate of Robinson's, said one of his favorite memories came after Robinson retired from Baseball in 1957. Robinson called Zimmer and told him he'd be traveling to Tampa for a few days and wanted to play golf. "We had a great time," Zimmer said. "It always meant something to me, because here I am a nothing, and Jackie Robinson wants to play golf with me." Did Robinson win? "Probably," Zimmer said, smiling.
