Hours before opening its 10-game homestand, Chicago (79-61) learned All-Stars Carlos Quentin and Joe Crede could be lost for the remainder of the regular season.
Quentin, who leads the AL with 36 homers, is expected to undergo surgery Monday on a fractured right wrist, an injury suffered earlier this week when he hit the bat in frustration after fouling off a pitch. Meanwhile, Crede could seek a second opinion on his sore back.
The White Sox overcame their absences on Friday in a 10-2 victory over the Angels (85-55), whose magic number to clinch the AL West remained at six.
Juan Uribe hit a pair of home runs, Paul Konerko also homered and Ken Griffey Jr. added two RBIs for Chicago, which totaled 15 hits and boosted its major league-leading home run total to 204.
"We still have enough in this lineup to win games," Konerko told the White Sox's official Web site. "We would rather do it with Carlos and it would be easier. We can't think about it when we get out there."
The White Sox improved to 47-22 at U.S. Cellular Field and maintained their 1 1/2-game lead on Minnesota atop the AL Central.
On Saturday, they'll try to succeed against Lackey (11-3, 3.10 ERA), who aims to bounce back after losing for the first time in 10 starts.
The right-hander needed 103 pitches to get through five innings of a 4-3 home loss to Texas on Sunday. He gave up four runs and nine hits, including two homers.
Lackey surrendered two homers to Chicago - both to Quentin - in his most recent start versus the White Sox on May 25, when he yielded three runs and six hits in eight innings of a 3-2 loss.
He is 0-3 despite a 3.19 ERA over his last four starts against the White Sox.
He'll be opposed by Chicago's Gavin Floyd (15-6, 3.61), who is 9-2 with a 3.35 ERA in 14 home starts.
One of his two home losses was a hard-luck 3-1 defeat to the Angels on May 23, when he gave up three runs and three hits in his only complete game of the season.
Floyd has had better luck in recent outings, helping the White Sox to victory in seven of his last eight starts while posting a 5-0 record with a 3.83 ERA in that stretch.
The right-hander has compiled a 2.61 ERA in winning his last three outings, including Sunday's 4-2 victory at Boston. Floyd limited the Red Sox to one run and seven hits in 6 2-3 innings.
Chicago has won consecutive games after dropping five of its previous six. The Angels have alternated wins with losses over their last six games.
