Manager Ozzie Guillen has tons of worries going into the final month in a dash for a playoff spot with Minnesota.

His biggest concern is health.

"If we stay healthy, I think this ballclub is going to compete all year long," Guillen said. "I think we have a good ballclub. I think those guys compete well. I think those guys are hungry. If I have another opinion, everybody will know, because when the team plays bad, I let them know.

"They seem hungry. They seem like they want to do it. Even when we lost (against Tampa Bay on Friday and Saturday), they fought. And we've got to compete. We've got to fight. We're not going to win every game, but I'm fine with the team right now."

His team's health got a bit better Monday with the news that third baseman Joe Crede (bad back) was finally activated. He played against Baltimore.

Crede was absent almost five weeks when he suffered back pain shortly after the All-Star break. He then re-injured the back on his rehab assignment and was missing in action for the last three weeks.

"I was just a little worried it might be another herniation or something," Crede said Monday.

"The biggest thing for me is, whenever you have those sharp pains, that's something that can really bother you," Crede added. "It's always on your mind out there, and you don't feel like you can perform at your highest level when you do have sharp pains and throbbing. I knew I had to take a step back and get this taken care of right away. We were able to do that."

Guillen's next hope is to get injured reliever Scott Linebrink back. He's missed the right-hander for almost five weeks now, and the bullpen has struggled in his absence.

ORIOLES 4, WHITE SOX 3 (14 innings); WHITE SOX 4, ORIOLES 3: It was quite the evening for the Sox. First, they completed a suspended game from April 28 and lost despite being the home team at Camden Yards.

Redemption then came in the regularly scheduled game, as Jim Thome delivered the Sox to the win with a home run in the sixth inning that gave rookie starter Clayton Richard his second consecutive win.
