Whitesoxclub.com | Chicago White sox News, whitesox Scores, Game Recaps & Commentary - --With the news that the game against the Tigers was postponed, pitching coach Don Cooper and manager Ozzie Guillen took the opportunity to reshuffle the starting rotation. LHP John Danks -- the scheduled Tuesday starter -- will pitch Thursday against the lefty-heavy Tampa Bay lineup, while Jose Contreras will pitch in Wednesday's series finale against Detroit. The change works out on several fronts for the rest of the rotation. Danks also acts as a buffer between Contreras and Bartolo Colon on back-to-back days as well as giving the entire staff some rest. The Monday after the Rays series is another off day.
--1B Paul Konerko and OF Jermaine Dye made some history Monday, as the duo became the first teammates to hit century milestone home runs in the same game. Each entered the contest in Detroit sitting at 299 homers, and in the second inning, they hit back-to-back homers off Tigers pitcher Zach Miner. "It's amazing we hit 300 in the same game," Konerko said. "It's even more amazing that it was back-to-back. I'm thinking 10, 20 years from now we'll be able to say that, which is kind of cool. I'm proud of it. You're in the dugout reflecting for a few minutes and then you look over at Jim (Thome) and say, 'Let's go play defense.'" --DH Jim Thome, who played three seasons in Philadelphia, was saddened by the news that long-time Phillies announcer Harry Kalas died Monday afternoon. "Very sad," Thome said. "I mean, the short time that I spent there in Philly, you know, he was just a legend. I remember sitting on the bus with him and the conversations, you just wanted to hear him talk. His voice was so legendary. He represented the Phillies for a lot of years. His voice was Philadelphia."
BY THE NUMBERS: 27 -- Of the first 52 pitches thrown by Mike MacDougal this season, only 27 were strikes. That's why the reliever posted a 7.71 ERA over that span and already had Ozzie Guillen second-guessing the decision to put him on the roster.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "He's the manager, and I guess if he feels that moving me down in the lineup will get me going, I'm cool with it. It's still early. I know I didn't do much at the top of the order in those two games, but at the same time, regardless of where I am in the lineup, Ozzie still has me back in there. I have to go out there and just keep playing." -- CF Dewayne Wise on his demotion from the leadoff spot to the bottom of the order after just two games.
