Whitesoxclub.com | Chicago White sox News, whitesox Scores, Game Recaps & Commentary - The team's front office and coaching staff had been saying all along that the team would give off a "different look" this season, especially on the offensive side of the ball, but it's still homer or bust through the first handful of games. The one aspect of the team that has lived up to expectations was the starting staff, with all five giving the Sox a chance to win and keeping them in the game.
PLAYER NEWS: --OF Scott Podsednik -- one of the heroes from the 2005 World Series team -- was signed to a minor league deal and will be playing center field for Class AAA Charlotte. It's an insurance policy now that Dewayne Wise is on the shelf with a separated right shoulder.
--INF Brent Lillibridge was originally scheduled to start Tuesday, with manager Ozzie Guillen giving 2B Chris Getz (bruised right elbow) one more day to rest the injury. But since the game was rained out, Getz is expected back in the starting lineup for the finale. Getz, who grew up 20 minutes outside Detroit, said he had been looking forward to playing in his hometown his entire career.
--OF Dewayne Wise was sent back to Chicago, and since it is a Grade 3 separation to his shoulder, manager Ozzie Guillen said he didn't expect to see Wise back before June. "It's unfortunate because this guy plays so hard and made the team out of spring training," Guillen said of Wise. "He struggled and then all of a sudden everything went back to normal and this happens."
MEDICAL WATCH:
CF Dewayne Wise (separated right shoulder) left the April 13 game. He will be placed on the disabled list, and he is expected to be out until June.
2B Chris Getz (bruised right elbow) was hurt April 12, and he didn't play April 13. Manager Ozzie Guillen said the team wouldn't rush Getz back into action, but Getz was expected to start April 15.
INF Jayson Nix (right quad) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He injured the leg early in camp, missed a week and then tried coming back, only to suffer a setback.
