Whitesoxclub.com | Chicago White sox News, whitesox Scores, Game Recaps & Commentary - --OF Dewayne Wise continued his rehab work from a separated shoulder Thursday, taking flyballs in the outfield as well as hitting in the batting cage. But Wise admitted that there is still some tightness in the shoulder area, and he likely won't be ready for a rehab assignment for another three weeks. "Me personally, I'm hoping three weeks, go out on a rehab assignment and playing a little bit," Wise said. "If that's the case then we are looking out at early June or up in that area (for a return to the active roster)."
--SS Alexei Ramirez's benching looked like an even better decision Thursday after new starting SS Jayson Nix hit a solo homer in the fourth inning. But manager Ozzie Guillen said that Ramirez is in control of what happens next, starting with better body language on and off the field throughout his struggles. "I'm not putting this kid on the bench because I'm crazy or we're losing," Guillen said. "I put him on the bench because all my coaching staff was thinking the same way I was thinking. He's going to be back in the lineup. If I see him the same way, we'll make a drastic decision and see what happens." --RHP Octavio Dotel had some people worried over how much he struggled in spring training, but the veteran kept saying that he was "working on stuff." While Dotel's changeup is still a work in progress, his other stuff has been very good for the Sox. Dotel has 11 scoreless outings this season, has averaged 11.6 strikeouts per nine innings and has held right-handed hitters to a .160 average. RHP Scott Linebrink is still the eighth-inning bridge to closer Bobby Jenks, but with the club being careful with Linebrink, Dotel's value is high.
MEDICAL WATCH:
CF Brian Anderson (sore right oblique) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 30. He could return after the minimum absence, but he is likely to have a rehab stint with Class AAA Charlotte first.
CF Dewayne Wise (separated right shoulder) went on the 15-day disabled list April 14. He hopes to be ready to start a rehab assignment in late May and return to the White Sox in early June.
