Whitesoxclub.com | Chicago White sox News, whitesox Scores, Game Recaps & Commentary - --INF Jayson Nix is watching his value go up in the eyes of manager Ozzie Guillen, as he was once again in the starting lineup on Friday, and could see some more action in the lineup over the weekend, moving around the infield. Nix remained the starter at shortstop for the series opener against the Rangers, with Guillen saying, "It's going to be fun to make the lineup the next couple days because I like the way Nix is playing. I might start him at third base for Josh (Fields) on Saturday, try to get Nix at-bats."
--RHP Jose Contreras might have a little longer leash than first thought, as manager Ozzie Guillen explained Friday that there are very few options other than the veteran right-hander. "I don't have the guy right now better than him," Guillen said. "A lot of people are talking about (Clayton) Richard, a lot of people are talking about (D.J.) Carrasco, someone from the minor leagues, there are so many names out there, it's crazy, but all of a sudden if we use someone from the bullpen then we have to move people around. I told Jose he has to step it up because he has to make my life easier. If we had someone better than him then maybe we would make a change, but he needs to step it up." --OF Dewayne Wise continued his rehab work from a separated shoulder Thursday, taking flyballs in the outfield as well as hitting in the batting cage. But Wise admitted that there is still some tightness in the shoulder area, and he likely won't be ready for a rehab assignment for another three weeks. "Me personally, I'm hoping three weeks, go out on a rehab assignment and playing a little bit," Wise said. "If that's the case then we are looking out at early June or up in that area (for a return to the active roster)."
MEDICAL WATCH:
CF Brian Anderson (sore right oblique) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 30. He could return after the minimum absence, but he is likely to have a rehab stint with Class AAA Charlotte first.
