A mesangioblast is a type of mesenchymal stem cell that is specifically involved in the formation and maintenance of the mesangium, a part of the kidney glomerulus that supports and separates the glomerular capillaries. These cells are also involved in the repair and regeneration of the glomerular structure following injury.
